What air purifier technologies do ENERGY STAR certified room air purifiers use?

ENERGY STAR certified models may include one or more of the following technologies:

·         Filters remove pollutants from the air by capturing them as the air passes through the filter. Room air purifiers with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and ULPA (ultra-HEPA) filters use this method to clean air.

·         Electrostatic precipitators use oppositely charged metal plates or wires to attract and capture particle matter.

·         Ionizers, which are frequently found in room air purifiers that also contain filters, emit a charge to the air that causes particles to attach to a filter or other surface.
