What is a standard sized dishwasher?

Dishwasher sizes (or capacities) are measured by the number of place settings and serving pieces they can hold at a time. A standard size dishwasher is defined as having a capacity greater than or equal to eight place settings and six serving pieces. A compact dishwasher is defined as being able to fit less than eight place settings and six serving pieces.
